Feline vaccines are an integral part of your cat’s health care and just one way to aid in your cat living a long and healthy life. Each year during your cat’s physical exam, vaccines will be administered to ensure that your cat’s immune system is strong enough to defend your cat against certain viruses. Vaccines prevent illnesses by producing an immune response should your pet come in contact with a disease. If your pet is not protected by these vaccines and does come in contact with various viruses, they can become very sick.

Does my indoor cat need to be vaccinated?

It is always a good idea to vaccinate your pets even if they are strictly inside. You never know when a virus will show up. Some viruses (included in the core vaccinations) can be transmitted on our clothing and passed along to your beloved pet.

What are FVRCP and core vaccines for cats?

The FVRCP vaccine helps protect your cat from Feline Rhinotracheitis Virus (upper respiratory disease), Calici Virus, and Panleukopenia (a severe disease of the gastrointestinal tract, immune system, and nervous system).

How often does my adult cat need to be vaccinated?

Are there any risks associated with cat vaccines?

Vaccines are the safest way to prevent disease. Although just like everything we do in life, there is always a small risk; however, our doctors feel that the rewards definitely outweigh the risks of the diseases that they prevent.
